Goat Vaccination Schedule Pakistan 2026 — Complete Disease Prevention Guide
Goat Vaccination Schedule 2026 — Keep Your Herd Healthy in Pakistan
Vaccination is the most cost-effective way to protect your goat herd from deadly diseases. In Pakistan, common goat diseases like PPR (Peste des Petits Ruminants), enterotoxemia, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), and goat pox kill thousands of animals every year — most of these deaths are preventable with proper vaccination.
Essential Vaccines for Goats in Pakistan
| Vaccine | Disease | First Dose | Booster | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PPR Vaccine | Peste des Petits Ruminants | 3 months age | None needed | Once in lifetime (some vets recommend every 3 years) |
| Enterotoxemia | Pulpy Kidney Disease | 3 months age | After 21 days | Every 6 months |
| FMD Vaccine | Foot-and-Mouth Disease | 4 months age | After 30 days | Every 6 months |
| Goat Pox | Capripox | 3 months age | None | Annual |
| HS Vaccine | Hemorrhagic Septicemia | 6 months age | None | Annual (before monsoon) |
| Anthrax | Anthrax | 6 months age | None | Annual (in endemic areas) |
Monthly Vaccination Calendar
January-February: PPR vaccination for new kids born in winter. Enterotoxemia booster.
March-April: FMD vaccination before hot season. Deworm entire herd.
May-June: Goat pox vaccination. Pre-Eid health checks for sale animals.
July-August: HS vaccine before monsoon season. Repeat deworming.
September-October: Enterotoxemia booster. FMD booster.

Deworming Schedule
Internal parasites (worms) are the #1 silent killer of goats in Pakistan. Deworm your herd regularly:
- Adults: Every 3-4 months (minimum 3 times per year)
- Kids: First at 3-4 weeks of age, then monthly until 6 months
- Pregnant does: Deworm 2-3 weeks before expected kidding
- Newly purchased goats: Deworm immediately on arrival, keep separate for 2 weeks
Common dewormers available in Pakistan: Albendazole (Valbazen), Ivermectin (Ivomec), Levamisole. Rotate dewormers every 6 months to prevent resistance.
Signs Your Goat Needs Immediate Veterinary Care
- Temperature above 104°F (40°C) — normal is 101.5-103.5°F
- Refusal to eat for more than 24 hours
- Watery diarrhea (especially in kids)
- Difficulty breathing or persistent coughing
- Swollen jaw or neck (bottle jaw — indicates severe worms)
- Blisters on mouth, feet, or udder (FMD)
- Sudden death of multiple animals (possible enterotoxemia or anthrax)
Where to Get Vaccines in Pakistan
- Government Livestock Department: Free or subsidized vaccines available at district veterinary hospitals
- Veterinary pharmacies: Available in most cities and towns
- Online: Some suppliers deliver vaccines via cold chain — ensure proper storage
Important: Always maintain the cold chain. Vaccines must be kept at 2-8°C. Expired or improperly stored vaccines provide zero protection.
